Hello! I’m Sophie, and I’m a second-year UBC Sauder student. I joined LBN in Grade 9 to share my passion for reading, and since then, I have taken on roles such as Design Team Member, Executive Coordinator, and now Community Building Club Lead. I love reading, writing, and learning about personal finance, and I always enjoy learning from new volunteers who join the Community Building Club!

Keerat received her PhD from McGill University. Her research in medical education specifically focuses on emotion regulation during simulation training. She also holds a BSc. in Biochemistry from McMaster University. Keerat joined LBN in 2022 and has since had multiple roles, including being a mentor, executive coordinator, and program supervisor.

Owen has been with LBN for over 10 years and has grown tremendously from the positions he’s held here! Outside of LBN, Owen holds a degree in Behavioural Neuroscience and previously researched the onset of mental illness in adolescents. He believes in the importance of equitable access to education and healthcare.

Riali is a student at the University of Toronto and is excited to be working as the project coordinator for LBN's rebranding initiative. She started on the research assistant team where she was motivated by the impacts of LBN to stay within the organization. Riali is passionate about education and hopes to help build an environment where educational growth is fostered.

Ian is a retired biochemist and businessman. He has served LBN as an Executive Coach and Management Consultant since 2013. He is an expert on Collaborative Leadership, and enjoys supporting the multigenerational community of LBN.

Hello! My name is Ines and I’m a first-year undergraduate in the HKU-UBC Dual Degree programme, studying Business Administration (BBA) at HKU and Commerce (BCom) at UBC. I became a Human Resources Assistant in September of 2023 and have continued in my role ever since as I appreciate the chance not only to communicate with different stakeholders within the organisation, but to contribute to LBN’s cause in a way that aligns with my academic and professional interests! In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, cooking, and watching (or rewatching) TV shows and movies.

Hello! My name is Prabveer, and I am currently in Grade 11! I joined Learning Buddies Network in 2023 as a Reading Mentor at K.B. Woodward Elementary. Ever since I joined, I have loved it here! I have met wonderful staff who have supported me in every way they could! Currently, I am a Program Coordinator, Regional Officer, and Executive Coordinator! In the future, I would like to become an elementary school teacher in the future, as I have had a passion of working with kids ever since I was 7 (I feel teachers are a big part of a person's education & life). I look forward to my position, as a Human Resource Assistant and to supporting LBN's mission!

Sabrina received her Bachelor’s degree from McMaster University and completed a postgraduate certificate in Human Resources from Mohawk College. She joined Learning Buddies Network in 2025 and has since contributed across multiple roles, including Program Coordinator, HR Assistant, and Team Member, supporting both operational and people-focused initiatives within the organization. In her free time, she enjoys trying new café spots, long bike rides, and writing.on goes here

Hello! My name is Duneesha and I am currently finishing off my BSc in Biology with a minor in Psychology at the University of British Columbia. I joined LBN as a reading mentor last summer and then continued as an On-call Reading Mentor in the fall. I decided to join the Communications Team to help engage the LBN community and create awareness of LBN’s programs to the public. In my spare time I like to read.

Hello! My name is Erika Miranda and I’m an undergraduate student studying Interactive Arts & Technology at Simon Fraser University. I joined Learning Buddies Network in October 2023 as a Design Volunteer because I wanted to use design as a way to make learning feel more welcoming, accessible, and fun for kids. I’m currently a Design Lead and also volunteer as a Blogs writer, supporting LBN by creating thoughtful visuals and stories that help communicate our impact. Going forward, I’m excited to keep growing within LBN, build my leadership and creative skills, and contribute to learning experiences that feel engaging, encouraging, and joyful for every child.

I began writing blog articles for the Learning Buddies Network in 2024 and was excited to step into the role of Blogs Team Lead in 2026. I’ve always been passionate about accessibility, education, and writing, especially creating resources that are engaging and approachable for students. Outside of LBN, I also volunteer as a math and English tutor. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing games, drawing, and even designing my own coloring pages to share with others.

Hi! My name is Anita and I started out with LBN as a reading mentor, then math mentor, then an on-call PC, before arriving here as part of the HRA team. I adore the community that LBN has created and I'm very passionate about our cause. In my free time I love to read and I'll take any book, movie, or music recommendations (although it may take a few months before I actually get to them).

Hi! I’m Flor, a Biological Sciences major with a Psychology minor at the University of Alberta. Volunteering with LBN has been an incredibly rewarding experience—I’d recommend it to anyone! Outside of that, I’m a big fan of bubble tea, and I love trying new foods.

Hi, my name is Yihan Hu, and I am currently a high school student in Grade 9. I am deeply passionate about computer science and math. I’ve been a part of the SSA for around a year and have enjoyed helping and assisting LBN with different tasks. In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. I am excited to learn and contribute to the IT department in the times to come.
